Wedding anniversary parties are not only for the biggies, like silver, pearl, gold and diamond. There are specific presents for each anniversary for every year up to ten and then every five after that. Use these as an excuse to party with friends and family. Anniversary number one is Cotton. Useful if you didn’t get bedding as wedding presents, but pretty boring otherwise. This anniversary is often marked by a party. Fifth is wooden. This can result in some lovely gifts, if your friends and family are still buying. Time for another party, perhaps. Fifteenth is silk and fine linen. Very nice presents and obviously time for another party! Twentieth is china – in these days when dinnerware is not as precious as it once was, perhaps a holiday to China might be a nice alternative. Silver for 25 years - the first really celebrated anniversary and rightly so; a real achievement. Pearl – 30 and time for a really nice gift, along with the next one, coral at 35 years. Now for the real biggies – ruby at forty, gold at fifty and diamond at sixty. Let’s face it, another excuse for a party!
