A 1^st birthday is probably the most important one – the whole family gathers round, wearing party hats while the birthday boy or girl blows out the single candle. Jelly and ice-cream are a must even though most of it will probably end up on the little guests. Goodie-bags are very much part of the day – small favours, sweets and a toy are enough to make the party complete. Even at this young age, a child has its favourite character or toy and  a themed party will bring a smile to their face; tablecloth, paper plates and cups, the cake and even fancy dress will make the day a success.
