1st Birthday Party
There is little cuter to watch than a whole load of babies getting stuck into plates of cake. There isn’t usually more than a few teeth between them, but the crumbs are soon flying and they don’t take long to find their favourite bit and it’s usually the icing. Only a very cruel mother will make a healthy-eating 1st birthday cake – after all, you’re only one once! As most 1st birthday parties are for families rather than the birthday boy or girl, a joint party can be a lot of fun, with older siblings and loads of grannies and granddads to share the load of entertaining the little dears. They may only be one, but they know what they like! Cbeebies themes are a popular choice as characters from TV soon get to be old friends, from Waybuloos to Bob the Builder, via old favourites like Thomas the Tank Engine and Pooh Bear. Tableware and goodie bags are available for all the television favourites and kids love them.
Couples Fancy Dress
Dressing as a couple to go to a fancy dress party is great fun and makes choosing the costumes a bit more of a challenge. You could choose Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara - maybe the most romantic couple in films, or perhaps Romeo and Juliet, a perfect partnership for the younger couple. Or how about Beauty and the Beast? There may be a bit of argument over who gets to be the Beast though! Staying with the world of cartoons there are Tom and Jerry, Minnie and Mickey Mouse and Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick – not quite sure who would play what there, but the costumes are huge fun. For a super modern twist, how about Prince Wills and Kate, this of course would be very fashionable to do. Another famous couple would be Katie Price and whoever her husband is; that could be part of the fun, as you can get blank masks to wear!
Celebrations
Celebrations can be little or large, impromptu or organised but they are all great for a party. They can be for a new job, a new baby, a new house or just to celebrate something that is generally good and needs to be marked as such – a marriage, a family, wellbeing and joy. So come one, everyone, let’s celebrate! Other reasons (as if you need them) are engagements; the families don’t usually know each other very well as yet and so it is nice to use the ‘excuse’ of an engagement to get together. Then of course is the wedding; another time when families come together to celebrate the marriage of two of their number. Some special birthdays need celebrating; a party for 1st, 13th, 18th, 21st and all the special ones to follow are a way of catching up with friends and marking that milestone that says ‘I’m a toddler now’, ‘I’m a teenager’ and so on, right up to ‘Old? Not me!’ Anniversaries demand a party too, Silver, Pearl, Ruby, Golden and even Diamond anniversaries are happening all the time. It’s not every day someone graduates from university or college and it is certainly a reason for celebration. The graduation ceremony at the college is usually only for limited numbers and it is good to be able to share an achievement with family and friends in a good old fashioned family party.
Childrens Themed Parties
With so many popular TV series for children these days, a themed party is easy to choose and to put on, with paper plates and other table decorations, banners, confetti and goody bags easily available. For pre-school kids, all the old favourites are still around; from Pooh Bear to Thomas the Tank Engine, but there are others a little newer, like Dora the Explorer. The big thing at the moment is the Waybuloos, gentle little creatures that can fly around and the little ones love them. For slightly older kids Hannah Montana is beginning to get popular with the junior school crowd, but in the younger age group there are still a lot of children who would love a Toy Story party, or Bob the Builder. Lots of scope for dressing up there, with loads of characters to choose from. SpongeBob SquarePants is popular with this age group as well and an undersea theme would be great fun to do. Whatever age the kids are, there are loads of choices for a great, fun day.
